Response: True/False Installation Design

This weekend, while volunteering for the True/False film festival, I was really impressed with the installation artists that helped design all the venues for the films and parties.  At first, I thought the work looked so fun to do that I was inspired and thought maybe I had found yet another calling.  But as the weekend went on and after being a part of two clean up crews and one set up crew (only a fraction of the work the actual design team put in) I was exhausted.  So while I really loved the work they did and was incredibly impressed by the volume and intricacy of their designs, I realized yet again how easy it is to undervalue art and design.  I think for now I will stick with more graphic and editorial design, but with a renewed appreciation for how much time and energy creative work takes.
