Can't miss: Tricky typography

Ok, so I know we are supposed to be blogging about websites and news publications and design blogs, etc.  But inspiration can come from anywhere.  Which is why I am going out on a limb this week to bring you a little gem from good old Facebook.  My question is, is it the design or the words that make this a stumper?

  1. I love things like this. Clearly the mistake is the spelling of the word mistake, but the way they have the numbers placed makes people think that the mistake is in the order of the numbers and therefore people focus on that rather than spelling issues. I think it's funny that from old tricks like this in images that people think just to look at the numerals and not the words.
It also goes back to the studies where no matter how words are spelled, as long as the first and last letter are in the right place people won't see it as spelled wrong. It reinforces the need for us as designers to look closely at how we are spelling things. The worst thing we could ever do is spell something wrong in a story title, or even worse, on a cover.
