Cant miss: GOOD.is

Good.is for people who give a damn.

At least that is what they say at Good, a collaborative that puts out their own magazine and hosts a website that combines all things amazing.  Get your news here.  Get funding for community projects, as well as ideas.  And all while getting inspired by their design.

In a way Good acts as an international news forum, yet their website feels more like a designer's home page.  I don't think I've ever found another website that offers more to an editorial designer, with its combination of hard news and amazing design.  Good clearly invests as much in design as they do in daily news which is incredibly refreshing.  It doesn't hurt that they snagged a catchy name either.

One of my favorite places to spend time on Good is their infographics tab.  It is great to see a media outlet featuring creative work in this way.  Knowing how much time, research, and creativity go into completing infographics, I think it is sad to see how poorly most media outlets use infographics.  Maybe I am just a nerd, but I think people really appreciate infographics, so why not give them their own section on a webpage?

  1. Thank you for this post! I am familiar with Good and visit their site here and there. But I had never just sat down and looked through their infographics section. Good presents so much information in such a visually pleasing and CREATIVE way. I think you are right that many media outlets do not use infographics to their full potential. Aside from how creative and design-oriented Good's inforgraphics are, I think it is important to note just how many elements go into Good's infographics. Each one uses various charts, graphs, etc. Most outlets just default to ONE standard map, chart and graph at a time. If we're lucky, these standard infographics have some type of interactive or unexpected element. In any case, I am absolutely blown away by Good's work.
